Player One Mars-C (SKU: POA-MARS-C ) is a compact one-shot color camera designed for high-speed photography of the Sun, Moon, and planets. A sensitive Sony IMX462 COLOR sensor (STARVIS, 1/2.8″) is used, which combines very low readout noise with exceptional sensitivity in the near infrared. A 2.9 µm pixel and 1936 × 1096 px (2.1 MP) resolution provide correct sampling at focal lengths of 2000 – 5000 mm and high readout speeds – up to 120 fps in full RAW 10 resolution. A 256 MB DDR-III buffer protects against dropped frames, and a passive PCS radiator stabilizes the sensor temperature during long lucky-imaging series.

Mars-C Highlights

• Sony IMX462 COLOR sensor – 1936 × 1096 px (2.12 MP), pixel 2.9 µm
• STARVIS technology – QE ≈ 88%, complete lack of amp-glow artifact
• speed up to 120 fps (RAW10) and 170 fps @ 1280 × 720, 400 fps @ 640 × 480
• full well ≈ 11 ke-, read noise < 1 e- in HCG mode – wide dynamic range
• 256 MB DDR-III buffer – recording without dropped frames even on a slow disk
• Super AR Plus window – high transmission 350–1000 nm, reduced reflections
• PCS cooling system (radiator); possibility of connecting an active ACS module
• USB-C 3.0 interface (400 MiB/s) + autoguider port ST-4 (RJ-12)
• threads: internal M42 × 0.75 + nose 1.25″ (back-focus 12.5 mm) – full compatibility with the SFT tilter and FD MINI drawer

Technical specification

• matrix: Sony IMX462 COLOR, CMOS, rolling-shutter
• format / diagonal: 1/2.8″ (6.46 mm) – area 5.6 × 3.2 mm
• resolution: 1936 × 1096 px (2.12 MP)
• pixel size: 2.9 µm
• ADC: 12 bit / 10 bit (RAW)
• full well: ≈ 11 ke- (gain 0)
• reading noise: 0.7 e- (HCG) – 3.0 e- (gain 0)
• max. FPS: 120 fps @ RAW10 (1936 × 1096), 400 fps @ 640 × 480
• exposures: 32 µs – 2000 s
• Buffer: 256MB DDR-III
• back-focus (with 1.25″ nose): 12.5 mm
• dimensions / weight: Ø 66 mm × 32 mm / 150 g
• cooling: PCS passive; optional ACS module (active)
• Power supply: 5V DC from USB-C (≤ 0.45A)
• systems: Windows 7/10/11 (ASCOM), macOS, Linux (INDI)

Mars-C is an excellent camera for enthusiasts of fast color planetary astrophotography. High infrared sensitivity allows the use of IR-pass 685/850 nm filters, which improves sharpness in difficult seeing . Thanks to its low weight and compact design, the camera will also work well as a precise guider in lightweight mobile sets.
