The Player One IR-Pass 685nm 1.25″ Filter (SKU: IR685 ) transmits only infrared radiation above ~685nm, effectively suppressing the entire visible and ultraviolet bands. With a shorter cut-on than the IR850, the filter perfectly combines high resolution (shorter wavelength) with greater resistance to seeing, resulting in exceptionally sharp images of planets (especially Mars and Jupiter), the Moon, and details of the solar photosphere in white light (with appropriate ERF/Herschel). • transmission >95% in the range 700–1000 nm (peak approx. 750 nm) • <0.1% blockage for 350–670 nm – effective visible and UV cut-out • multi-layer hard-coated dielectric coatings – high scratch and aging resistance • optical substrate λ/4, parallel ≤ 30″ – no distortion at large apertures • 1.25″ (M28.5 × 0.6) thin bezel with blackened edges – no vignetting in FD MINI filter wheels and drawers
• Diameter/frame: 1.25″ – thread M28.5 × 0.6, ring height 5 mm • substrate: optical glass, thickness 2 mm • cut-on wavelength: ≈ 685 nm • transmission band (T > 95%): 700 – 1000 nm • band lock: <0.1% @ 350 – 670 nm • coatings: dielectric, double-sided, hard-coated • flatness: λ/4 (632.8 nm) • clear diameter: 26 mm • weight: 9 g
When using the IR685 filter with high NIR sensitivity cameras (e.g. Neptune-664C or Mars-M II) you will get better sharpness and contrast of planetary structures, reduced influence of atmospheric turbulence and much less diffraction effect with bright objects. Ideal for lucky imaging technique and Moon and Sun photography (with appropriate ERF filtration).
