The ZWO company has prepared a real treat for professional astrophotographers and fans of visual observations for the year 2022. ZWO AM5, because this is what we are talking about, is an equatorial mount, which, thanks to a huge number of innovative solutions, creates a completely new class on the market of astronomical products.
ZWO AM5 enables operation in both the equatorial (EQ) and azimuth (AZ) modes. The first one is dedicated especially to the needs of astrophotography, while the second one will prove to be a convenient observation configuration. The source of the drive are high-resolution NEMA stepper motors, which, in combination with a wave gearbox, allow to achieve a steering precision of 0.5 - 0.8 ". The whole thing can be controlled by hand. via a hand controller or application, as well as via a computer with software compatible with the ASCOM driver. As befits top-class equipment, this assembly is also fully compatible with the extremely popular ASIAIR ™ series controllers.
The enormity of the possibilities of this product is connected with its compact dimensions and low weight. The head is equipped with an M12 thread enabling the connection of the counterweight axes, thanks to which the maximum load can be increased from 13 to 20 kilograms. What is extremely important, the optical tube is protected against damage in the event of a power failure by using a special brake, preventing it from falling suddenly. • lightweight, high-capacity equatorial mount with the possibility of working in the azimuthal mode • the highest driving precision thanks to the use of high-class stepper motors and a wave gear with a ratio of 300: 1 • periodic error corrected in the range of ± 20 ", determined individually for each assembly specimen • possibility to control by hand controller or application for mobile devices • a brake protecting the optical tube against damage in the event of a power cut • full compatibility with ASIAIR ™ computers • mounting type: equatorial (EQ) • assembly modes: equatorial (EQ) / azimuth (AZ) • maximum focal length (according to the manufacturer's recommendation): 900 mm • maximum load without counterweights: 13 kg • maximum load with counterweights: 20 kg • optical tube mount: Losmandy / Vixen • counterweight axle mounting thread: M12 • latitude adjustment range: 0 - 90 ° • azimuth adjustment range: ± 10 ° • Right Ascension Axis (RA) drive: NEMA 42 stepper motor, 100: 1 ratio with brake • declination axis drive (DEC): NEMA 35 stepper motor, ratio 100: 1 • resolution of stepper motors: 0.17 " • drive transmission: wave gear with toothed belt, ratio 300: 1 • periodic error: <± 20 " • duration of a single period: 432 s • maximum rotation speed: 6 ° / s • travel speeds: 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x, 20x, 60x, 720x, 1440x • connectors: USB, ST-4 (guider), hand controller connector, power socket • WiFi module: yes • communication with the ASIAIR ™ module: wired / wireless • compatibility with the ASCOM driver: yes • power supply: 12 V, 3 A • power consumption (standby / tracking / GoTo): 12 V, 0.386 A / 12 V, 0.58 A / 12 V, 1.5 AZ • permissible operating temperatures: -20 ÷ 50 ° C • head weight: 5 kg • material: carbon fiber • maximum load: 50 kg • compatibility: ZWO AM5, iOptron GEM45, iOptron GEM40, Rainbow Astro 135E, Sky-Watcher AZ-GTi • height: 470 - 800 mm • number of leg sections: 2 • diameter of legs upper / lower section: 40 mm / 36 mm • length after folding: 500 mm • weight: 2.3 kg • assembly of ZWO AM5 • hand controller • hand controller cable • TC40 carbon fiber field tripod 24 months

There is an ASIAIR finder shoe attached on the AM5's side panel.
If you plan to attach it on anywhere else, such as on the side of the Losmandy & Vixen style dovetail saddle plate, then make sure not to COMPLETELY screw in the rest two hex screws.
Keep the length of the inner part between 3~5mm.
If you completely screw them in, considering the compact structure of AM5, the cables inside the mount might get pressed and damaged which may lead the mount not to work.
