Advanced Celestron focal length reducer for 8 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes from the EdgeHD series (EdgeHD 800). The 4-element optics of this reducer have been designed exclusively for this telescope model in order to maintain the perfectly flat image field for which the EdgHD series telescopes are known. Unlike basic reducers, the original, specialized Celestron reducers dedicated to EdgeHD optics provide a large back focus for various astrophotographic accessories, a large field of view and excellent correction of off-axis aberrations.
This reducer is an excellent extension of the SCT telescope's capabilities in nebular astrophotography of small and compact objects such as bright emission nebulae, galaxies, globular clusters and larger planetary nebulae. It fits perfectly between the long focal length F / 10-F / 11 setup and the ultra-fast Hyperstar F / 2, making the EdgeHD optics the most versatile optical system that exists.
Celestron EdgeHD reducer is made of exotic, lanthanum glass with high refractive index and ED elements with extra low dispersion, which guarantee maximum image contrast without a trace of chromatic aberration. All lens surfaces have multi-layer anti-reflective coatings for maximum light transmission and color correction, which together with the blackened lens edges also minimize internal reflections and further increase contrast.
The lenses are closed in a precision CNC aluminum housing, so that all optical elements are accurately positioned and collimated. • 4-element optical design • elements made of lanthanum glass and ED • multi-layer anti-reflective coatings on each surface • blackened lens edges • metal casing made in CNC technology • designed especially for EdgeHD 8 " • 105 mm backfocus • increases the luminosity of the telescope by the full degree of aperture • increases the sensor's field of view by 43% • optimized for APS-C matrices • is an intermediate point between the long focal length F / 10-F / 11 setup and the Hyperstar F / 2 system
