For observations and astrophotography in the equatorial regions using the EQ-AL55i Pro mount, we recommend using the Extension Tube half-support. This accessory prevents the counterweight shaft from colliding with the tripod.
The Extension Tube is also extremely useful when working with long focal length refractors, protecting the tube from accidentally hitting the tripod legs.
The extension is compatible with both LT1 aluminum tripods (used in AZ4 and EQ3-2 mounts) and steel tripods with a leg diameter of 1.75 inch.
