Sky-Watcher N-200/1000 HEQ-5 SynScan GOTO is a classic Newtonian reflector optical tube with a 200mm primary mirror diameter and a 1000mm focal length, offering powerful observational capabilities, mounted on a very good equatorial mount with a tracking and locating system. It is intended for both demanding beginners and advanced astronomy enthusiasts. This is a high-end astronomical instrument, allowing for highly advanced visual observations and good-quality astrophotography at short, medium, and long exposures. It is equipped with a 2" focuser with a 1.25" adapter, enabling the use of both eyepiece standards.
Regarding the observational capabilities of this telescope, it can be used to observe Solar System objects (the Moon, planets, asteroids, comets) as well as nebulae. Within its reach are several thousand deep-sky objects from the Messier and NGC catalogs.
The optical tube is mounted on a solid, steel HEQ-5 equatorial mount, known for its rigidity and precision, equipped with the GOTO SynScan tracking and pointing system with a database of nearly 14,000 objects, including lunar and planetary ephemerides.
The Sky-Watcher HEQ-5 Pro SynScan equatorial mount was designed for users who require both high stability for amateur astrophotography and advanced visual observations, while maintaining a relatively compact size and weight. The mount features dual-axis drives, a GOTO SynScan computer system, a polar scope, solid RA and Dec axis locking clamps, and a counterweight shaft built into the head (extendable). The tripod is based on sturdy 1.75" steel legs, ensuring maximum stability of the entire setup. The maximum payload of the mount is approximately 16 kg, while its own weight is 19 kg. Attaching the optical tube to the mount is possible via a standard dovetail bar (female dovetail included).
The GoTo SynScan hand controller is a full-featured version, allowing tracking and locating objects in the night sky. It offers three tracking speeds: sidereal, lunar, and solar, and supports Dual Axis and R.A. tracking modes. The following alignment procedures are available: One-star Alignment, Two-star Alignment, and Three-star Alignment.
The database contains 25 user-definable objects, as well as complete Messier, NGC, and IC catalogs (a total of 13,436 objects). The hand controller also provides quick access to planets and the Moon. Among its advanced features are vibration suppression mode for long-exposure astrophotography, programmable periodic error correction (PEC), as well as PC control via RS-232 port and an Auto-Guide port for precise mount alignment using a guiding camera.
