ZWO Seestar S50 Pro is an advanced all-in-one smart telescope combining a 50 mm four-element APO optical system, two 4K cameras, an automatic mount, focusing system, control computer, integrated filter system, 128 GB storage and a 10,000 mAh battery. The entire system is controlled through a mobile application responsible for object selection, GoTo positioning, tracking, image capture, stacking and processing.
The most important change compared with the original Seestar S50 is the dual imaging system. The main telephoto camera uses an 8.3 MP, 1/1.2" sensor, while the second wide-angle camera is equipped with an 8.3 MP, 1/2" sensor. Both cameras record 4K images at a resolution of 2160 × 3840 pixels.
The telephoto optical system has a 50 mm aperture, 260 mm focal length and f/5.2 focal ratio. Its four-element apochromatic objective with ED glass is designed to reduce chromatic aberration and produce pinpoint star images. The 2.8° field of view makes it possible to capture galaxies, nebulae, star clusters and smaller areas of the Milky Way with clearly visible detail.
The wide-angle camera offers a 63° field of view, 6 mm focal length, f/1.75 focal ratio and a 35 mm equivalent focal length. It can be used to capture wide views of the Milky Way, galactic arches, constellations, star trails and night landscapes. It can also be used during the day for nature, landscape and fast-moving-object photography.
The integrated filter system includes a UV/IR-cut filter for both cameras, a dual-band light-pollution filter for the telephoto camera and a calibration position for recording dark frames. The dual-band filter passes the OIII band with a width of 30 nm and the H-alpha band with a width of 20 nm, improving the contrast of emission nebulae when imaging from urban and suburban locations.
The Seestar S50 Pro automates the entire imaging session. Once an object has been selected, the telescope can orient itself under the sky, determine the target position, focus, begin tracking and stack successive exposures. The application's extensive database contains more than 80,000 deep-sky objects and more than 600,000 stars. Constellation recognition, target recommendations and observation-planning functions are also available.
Plan Mode makes it possible to prepare an entire night's schedule covering several objects and different types of images. The user can create the plan manually or use automatic planning. The telescope completes each item of the schedule within the appropriate time window, reducing the need to supervise the session continuously.
The Seestar application provides live image stacking, automatic mosaics and intelligent one-tap processing. Manual adjustment is also available, including star reduction or removal, cropping, brightness, contrast, noise reduction and color saturation. Processing adjustments can be synchronized with the image preview so that their results are visible directly in the application.
The integrated mount can operate in alt-azimuth mode, while the telescope also supports equatorial mode. Equatorial mode can provide more accurate tracking during longer sessions, but it requires the telescope to be positioned correctly and used with a suitable equatorial base or wedge. An equatorial wedge is not listed as part of the standard package.
According to the manufacturer's laboratory measurements, the 10,000 mAh battery provides up to 9 hours of operation. The eMMC storage has a capacity of 128 GB, with approximately 100 GB remaining available for photographs and recordings after space occupied by the system is taken into account. 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB Type-C allow the telescope to be controlled, files to be transferred and external power to be supplied during longer sessions.

The telephoto camera is intended for imaging astronomical objects that require a larger image scale. Its 1/1.2" sensor with 2.9 µm pixels works with a 50 mm aperture, 260 mm focal-length objective. The equivalent focal length is 880 mm, while the minimum focusing distance is 15 m.
The wide-angle camera uses a 1/2" sensor with 1.6 µm pixels. Its 6 mm f/1.75 lens provides a 63° field of view and a 35 mm equivalent focal length. It can focus from a distance of only 0.1 m, making the camera suitable for daytime photography and compositions with a clearly defined foreground.

Always use the included, undamaged solar filter when observing the Sun and install it in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Check that the filter is seated correctly before pointing the telescope at the Sun. Never observe or photograph the Sun without a suitable solar filter.
