I have two such flat cables. One of them got broken while I was targeting at one night with my telescope, so I had to buy a replacement. The one I've received is not flat neither black :) It's the red one (similar to the one included with ASIAIR). The good news that it seem to be made of silicon, so it does not get stiff (that much) at freezing temperatures.
