AR.Drone 2.0 is the latest version of the high-tech quadricopter of the French company Parrot, controlled by a Wi-Fi network using a smartphone or tablet. AR.Drone is an intuitive, easy-to-use RC model with amazing possibilities.

In relation to version 1.0 version 2.0 has an HD camera, the ability to record video and take photos, an additional mode of piloting Absolute Control , higher stability and greater control when flying at high altitudes.

HD camcorder

Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 is equipped with a front camera with a resolution of HD 1280x720, from which the image can be sent in real time to the screen of the control device (tablet, smartphone). Thanks to this, we have incredible flight experience, and at the same time we can record high definition flights.

In addition, there is a lower resolution camera at the bottom of the Drone to assist in landing in the right place.

AR.FreeFlight 2.0 - a new piloting platform

The AR.Drone 2.0 control is done using the new AR.FreeFlight 2.0 free application. It allows you to record and upload your own HD flights videos online. The "traveling" function allows you to program a specific trajectory (sequence of Drone moves) - after entering the direction of movement (forward, backward, left, right) and time of movement, Ar.FreeFlight software will do the rest for you.

In addition to the AR.Drone flight phase control, the new AR.FreeFlight 2.0 application - free download from the AppStore and Android Market - offers players a new interface and many options.

• FreeFlight: access to the pilot application. The remote control can record a flight, HD videos or take photos by storing them in its control device. All flight data (altitude, speed, duration and location) can be saved, viewed by the remote control and shared with the community.
• Guest Space: access to the best videos and practical information about AR.Drone 2.0
• updates: access to free software updates for AR.Drone 2.0.
• AR.Drone Academy: track the best places for flights, observe the feats of other pilots on video and share flight parameters with them
• AR.Games: access to applications and games available for AR.Drone
• photos and videos: direct access to your own videos and photos - watch or upload to YouTube to share with the AR.Drone community and the world

Because high-resolution video transmission over the current WIFI can negatively affect the communication continuity, it is possible to connect directly to the Drone USB stick and record videos and photos on a USB flash drive • to disconnect the transmission via WIFI and subsequent recording of the recorded material (USB Recording function).

Absolute Flight

Immediately after loading the AR.FreeFlight 2.0 pilot application for a smartphone or tablet with iOS or Android, the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 connects to it via Wi-Fi. Once the connection has been made, all on-board instruments will be visible on the screen showing the cockpit view as well. After pressing the start button, all four engines will be started and AR.Drone 2.0 will start by itself. Piloting is very easy. Using the thumbs located on the screen on both sides of the screen, the control buttons appear automatically at the place of touch:

Press and hold the left button and AR.Drone 2.0 will continue to move in the direction of the controller in the hands of the remote control: forward, backward or sideways when you tilt the smartphone / tablet in the desired direction. Swipe over the right button and the quadricopter will rise, fall or turn right or left.

Thanks to the new, patented by Parrot Absolute Control pilot mode, the player receives a very intuitive control system.

3D magnetometer

Thanks to the 3D magnetometer, AR.Drone 2.0 knows exactly its location and orientation in relation to the smartphone, which is its reference point. The pilot no longer needs to take care of the orientation of the front camera, because the quadricopter accurately follows the movements of the controller and its deflection. Experienced players can choose the Relative Flight mode, which is a conventional method of piloting. In this mode, the magnetometer is switched off and the remote control independently controls the orientation of the device without additional help.

Stabilization on every ceiling - the ability to perform higher flights

AR.Drone 2.0 includes MEMS - micro-electromechanical systems. It is a 3-axis accelerometer, a 3-axis gyroscope, a 3-axis magnetometer and a pressure sensor that together give the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 exceptional flight stabilization. In addition, 2 ultrasonic sensors analyze the flight altitude up to 6 meters and above. In addition, the built-in pressure sensor provides excellent vertical stabilization.

• 4 rotors, specially designed for AR.Drone 2.0, ensure unparalleled flight flow
• a second camera, placed under the quadricopter and connected to the central stabilization system, which measures the speed of the aircraft using a system that compares the images, and is useful when choosing a landing location.

Two hulls, created for two different types of flights

Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 has two hulls with a special shape. They are made of material used, among others in the production of car bumpers. The hulls are very light and resistant, protecting the mechanics and electronics of Drone. For flights outside, a contoured hull was designed in different color versions, which reduces air resistance and ensures stability and makes it easier to operate AR.Drone 2.0. During indoor flights, the INDOOR HULL hull also protects the rotor blades and the body in the event of an obstacle being hit. LEDs - green at the front, red at the rear - help the pilot in the correct orientation of the AR.Drone 2.0 during the flight.

Open development platform

To ensure the development of new solutions and applications Parrot AR.Drone 2.0, as well as to extend compatibility with other operating systems and to enable the creation of new games and applications, Parrot provides developers and members of the Apple community and Android Software Development Putty.

After logging in to and accepting license terms, developers have access to the AR.Drone 2.0 source code, as well as studies, documentation, guides and a discussion forum about product development directions.

Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 is powered by a Li-ion battery (included). Separately available spare batteries.
