Vortex Defender-XL is the largest collimator from the Defender family, designed for dynamic, recreational and tactical combat shooting. The Defender-XL collimator offers a wide viewfinder, a clear image with a real 1x magnification and a number of modern technological solutions, thanks to which sports competition is much easier. The Defender-XL uses an impressively large aspherical lens with a hard Armortek coating, a Shockfield insert that effectively absorbs shocks, a motion sensor that extends battery life to 25,0000 and a footprint in the popular DeltaPoint Pro standard. • 10-step dot brightness adjustment (8 + 2 NV). The sight body is made of 7075 aircraft aluminum using precision milling. This gives the device a lightweight (only 54 g) and durable construction that is resistant to recoil, falls, and other unexpected events accompanying IPSC.
The aluminum body is finished with hard anodizing, which provides high resistance to abrasion and scratches. The base of the collimator has a DeltaPoint Pro foot print, which eliminates the need to purchase an additional mounting plate or modify the weapon by a gunsmith.
The front of the sight has aggressive Fast-Rack ribbing, thanks to which the gun can be reloaded safely also through the collimator. The sight has a waterproof and dustproof housing, supported by a polymer Shockshield insert, which effectively absorbs shocks and weapon recoil. The collimator has a simple and user-friendly interface operated using large buttons located on both sides of the housing. Vortex Defender-XL has a high-quality lens covered with multi-layer anti-reflective coatings, which provide high light transmission and a clear and sharp image without parallax error. The sight is distinguished not only by one of the largest lenses in its class, but also by the aspherical profile of the optics. This ensures crystal sharpness of the image not only in the center, but also on the edges. As a result, we get a bright, clear image of the target and we can comfortably shoot even in low light. The aiming mark is a red dot with a size of 5 or 8 MOA (depending on the model) with a value of 1 MOA click, adjustable in the range of 115/120 MOA (horizontal/vertical). The hard Armortek coating protects the lens from scratches and other external factors.
The control system and diode are resistant to weapon recoil and weather conditions, thanks to which the sight works stably, efficiently and stably even in difficult field conditions. The collimator is powered by a CR2032 battery, which according to the manufacturer provides up to 25,000 hours of operation at a brightness setting of 6. Similar to the Venom model, the battery port is located at the top of the device, allowing easy and convenient replacement of the power source, without the need to dismantle the sight from the weapon. The user has at their disposal 8 daily settings and 2 settings compatible with night vision. The sight owes its extended operating time to the use of a motion sensor, which automatically turns off the diode after 10 minutes in the absence of movement and switches the sight to sleep mode. To re-activate the collimator, simply raise the weapon.
