ASI 2600 MM-Duo is the first monochrome camera in ZWO's offer, equipped with two matrices and thus being an integrated system for simultaneous shooting and operating an optical set (guiding). This is new from May 2023.

The heart of this camera is a monochrome CMOS sensor developed by Sony. The IMX571 sensor is characterized primarily by very low noise, amounting to only 0.0024 e/s/px at 0°C. This means that with a 300-second exposure, the total noise is less than 1e, which means that it is negligible in practice. The photosensitive element developed by the Japanese uses backlight technology, making it much more sensitive than matrices made using traditional technology, in which there are metal electrodes and transistor elements between the light source and the photodiode surface. In the case of the Sony IMX571 sensor, these elements do not cover the active surface, which, combined with the lack of a Bayer grating in the monochromatic version, allowed for maximum peak quantum efficiency of 91%. A 16-bit analog-to-digital converter supported by a DDR 3 memory buffer with a capacity of 512 MB is responsible for signal processing while maintaining the highest tonal range and maximum dynamic range, ensuring smooth data transfer.

This product also features an extremely extensive temperature control system. A two-stage Peltier module keeps the temperature of the CMOS matrix low, guaranteeing almost immeasurable noise, and a special heater surrounding the protective glass eliminates the risk of water vapor condensation.

The most important features of the WO ASI 2600 MM-Duo camera

• monochrome Sony IMX571 main matrix of APS-C format with a resolution of 26 MPix
• integrated SC2210_BW monochrome matrix dedicated to guiding
• 16-bit main matrix ADC ensuring high dynamic range of the image
• 512 MB of DDR3 memory acting as a buffer ensuring stable data transmission
• efficient and energy-saving, two-stage cooling system based on the Peltier module
• built-in heater to prevent water vapor condensation
