The MAGUS DF2 A condenser with a numerical aperture of 1.36–1.25 is designed for dark field observations using oil immersion. It allows for obtaining a contrast image of unstained, transparent preparations that are difficult to observe in the bright field technique. It can be used with objectives with magnification from 20x and up, including oil objectives. In order for light to reach the preparation, immersion oil should be used with both dry and oil objectives. The condenser is mounted in place of the Abbe condenser and is adjusted using two centering screws. The best contrast is obtained with a 0.17 mm thick coverslip and a 1–1.2 mm thick base glass.
