The MAGUS SPD1 polarization set enables microscopic observations in polarized light. It consists of two elements: a rotating polarizer, which is mounted on the collector, and an analyzer, which is installed in a socket above the turret bowl. The polarizer can be rotated in the range of 90°, which allows for precise setting of the polarization angle relative to the analyzer. The intensity of light passing through the specimen depends on the relative position of the polarizer and the analyzer. When their axes are perpendicular, the light is almost completely blocked, which allows for maximum image contrast.
