The MAGUS Pol D850 LCD polarizing microscope is designed for research in transmitted and reflected light using the bright field technique and polarization. It allows for the observation of anisotropic biological, geological, polymeric and opaque polished cross-sections up to 15 mm thick. It is used in medicine, forensics, mineralogy, crystallography and petrography.

The optical system is infinity corrected and free from internal stresses. The Siedentopf trinocular head with a beam split of 100:0 or 0:100 allows for the installation of a digital camera. The set includes four tension-free planar-achromatic objectives and two eyepieces, including one with a scale. The revolving bowl holds five objectives and allows for centring. The rotary table used has a 1° scale and a vernier scale of up to 0.1°, with the possibility of centring relative to the optical axis.

Both transmitted and reflected illumination are provided by 30 W halogen bulbs. The Köhler illumination system provides high image quality and eliminates artifacts. The built-in polarizer and analyzer allow for adjustment of the polarization angle, and the Bertrand lens and λ, λ/4 compensators and quartz wedge allow for conoscopic examinations.

The coarse and fine focus adjustment mechanism is placed low, which increases the comfort of work. The coarse adjustment tension is adjustable, and the mechanism is equipped with a lock. Precise adjustment allows smooth movement of the specimen with an accuracy of up to 0.002 mm.

The integrated MAGUS CHD40 digital camera with an 8 MP matrix provides realistic 4K image with an HDMI or USB 3.0 connection and Full HD with Wi-Fi transmission. The camera can work standalone or in connection with a computer. Recording is done at a speed of 30 fps without delays. The image is bright and clear thanks to the SONY Exmor / Starvis matrix. The camera works with MAGUS View software (USB) or works in HDMI mode without a computer.

The MAGUS MCD40 monitor with a diagonal of 13.3" and a resolution of 3840x2160 px displays the image in real time. The IPS matrix provides wide viewing angles and high quality of color reproduction. The monitor can be placed on a tripod, camera or worktop.
