Astronomik SII 12 nm CCD Clip-Filter EOS M (Astronomik, SKU: 10204095 / 8h00s5) is a narrowband emission line filter designed for imaging nebulae emitting in the sulfur [SII] lines. It significantly enhances the contrast between objects emitting at 671.7 nm and 673 nm and the sky background, making it suitable for both light-polluted and dark observing sites.
• 12 nm narrowband SII filter
• maximizes contrast at 671.7 nm and 673 nm
• complete blocking of sodium (Na) and mercury (Hg) vapor lamp emissions, natural airglow and most moonlight
• effectively blocks unwanted radiation outside the SII band from UV to IR
• especially suitable for DSLR cameras with CMOS sensors and CCD cameras with normal or high dark current
• preferred for cameras with integrated guiding sensors (typically more guide stars than the 6 nm version)
• integrated IR blocking layer (CCD version)
• parfocal with other Astronomik filters
• diffraction-limited design – no loss of resolution or contrast
• Astronomik MFR coating providing excellent out-of-band blocking, no halos and minimal scattered light
• strict quality control before shipment
• Astronomik SII 12 nm CCD Clip-Filter EOS M
• high-quality, durable filter storage box
• spectral lines: SII (671.7 nm and 673 nm)
• bandwidth (FWHM): 12 nm
• guaranteed transmission >90% (12 nm and 6 nm) at both SII lines (671.7 nm and 673.0 nm)
• typical transmission 96% (12 nm) and 93% (6 nm) at both SII lines
• recommended focal ratio range (MFR): f/3 to f/∞
• glass thickness: 1 mm
• finely polished optical glass free from streaks, internal stress and bubbles
• coating: Astronomik MFR
• fully resistant to high humidity and aging effects
The SII filter is a key part of HSO (H-alpha, SII, OIII) imaging, enabling high-contrast capture of nebular structures in the sulfur band.
