Astronomik UHC-E Clip-Filter EOS M (Astronomik, SKU: 10204086 / 8h00r9) is designed for deep-sky photography of emission nebulae and comets under light-polluted skies. The filter enhances contrast between celestial objects and the sky background by effectively blocking common streetlight emissions and all natural airglow lines.

With a 45 nm bandwidth, the UHC-E provides significant contrast enhancement while transmitting more starlight than the standard Astronomik UHC filter. Its transmission range also includes spectral lines useful for comet imaging.

Key features

• enhances contrast of emission nebulae and comets
• effectively blocks sodium (Na) and mercury (Hg) lamp emissions and natural airglow
• higher starlight transmission compared to the UHC filter
• bandwidth (FWHM): 45 nm
• Clip-Filter version for Canon EOS M
• parfocal with other Astronomik filters
• diffraction-limited design
• Astronomik MFR coating providing excellent out-of-band blocking and no halos

Applications

• emission nebula photography under moderate light pollution
• comet imaging
• 1.25" and 2" versions can also be used for visual observation in suburban areas

Alternatives

• for strong light pollution, the Astronomik UHC filter may be more suitable
• Astronomik CLS and CLS CCD filters are recommended for broader deep-sky imaging under lower light pollution (CLS CCD includes integrated IR blocking)

Suitability

• CMOS and CCD: good, requires additional IR-block filter
• DSLR (original): good – shifted color balance but significantly increased contrast
• DSLR (astro-modified): very good – good color balance and strong contrast
• DSLR (MC-modified): very good, requires additional IR-block filter

Technical specifications

• typical transmission: 94% at 486 nm (H-beta)
• typical transmission: 95% at 496 nm (OIII)
• typical transmission: 95% at 501 nm (OIII)
• typical transmission: 94% at 656 nm (H-alpha)
• transmission range: 465–530 nm and above 645 nm
• bandwidth: 45 nm
• glass thickness: 1 mm
• finely polished optical glass free from streaks and stress
• resistant to humidity and aging effects
• supplied in a durable protective filter box

Each filter undergoes strict quality control before shipment to ensure high sharpness, strong contrast, and absence of halos even with bright objects in the field of view.
