Astronomik UHC XT Clip-Filter EOS APS-C (Astronomik, SKU: 10203085 / 8h00kr) is one of the most versatile filters for astrophotography. It provides significantly enhanced contrast and reveals more detail in deep-sky objects compared to many other filters on the market.
With its Ultra High Contrast (UHC) design, the filter offers exceptionally high transmission of the OIII and H-beta lines while effectively blocking stray light from various sources, including light pollution. This results in a substantial contrast improvement for gaseous and planetary nebulae against the sky background.
It can be used under both urban and dark-sky conditions. The filter enhances visibility and reveals details in objects that would otherwise appear faint or invisible.
The filter is suitable for focal ratios from f/3 to f/15 and can be used with a wide range of telescopes and lenses. Compared to competing products, it preserves more stars and finer object details while maintaining high image sharpness.
It blocks emission lines from sodium (Na) and mercury (Hg) lamps as well as natural airglow, while transmitting the H-beta and OIII lines. This selective transmission significantly increases contrast between celestial objects and the sky background.
Also recommended for imaging Jupiter’s cloud structures and improving double star separation.
• 1.25" and 2" mounted versions can be used for visual observation
• Astronomik UHC-E – better suited for comet photography or under lower light pollution
• Astronomik CLS or CLS CCD – recommended for imaging galaxies and the Milky Way under moderate light pollution (CCD version includes integrated IR blocking)
• CMOS and CCD: good for emission nebulae, requires additional IR-block filter
• DSLR (original): good for emission nebulae, shifted color balance but significantly increased contrast
• DSLR (astro-modified): very good for emission nebulae, good color balance
• DSLR (MC-modified): very good for emission nebulae, requires additional IR-block filter
XT filters are designed for wide-angle astrophotography. Their extremely thin substrate (0.3 mm or 0.5 mm) significantly reduces star distortion in the image corners.
• typical transmission 95% at 486 nm (H-beta)
• typical transmission 95% at 496 nm and 501 nm (OIII)
• typical transmission 95% at 656 nm (H-alpha)
• transmission range: 480–505 nm and above 645 nm
• bandwidth (FWHM): 25 nm
• glass thickness: 1 mm (except OWB Type 3 and XT filters)
• finely polished optical glass free of stress and inclusions
• extremely durable coating
• fully resistant to humidity and aging
• Astronomik MFR coating
• parfocal with other Astronomik filters
• diffraction-limited design
• optimized transmission ranges
• supplied in a durable protective filter box
All Astronomik filters are parfocal and diffraction-limited, ensuring that your optical system’s resolution and contrast remain uncompromised. Each filter undergoes strict quality control before shipment.
