Astronomik OIII 12nm CCD 31 mm Filter (SKU: 10215331 / 8h00gj) is a narrowband emission filter designed for imaging nebulae that emit light in the oxygen [OIII] lines. It records radiation at wavelengths of 496 nm and 501 nm, significantly increasing contrast between the object and the sky background. The 31 mm filter format is intended for use in filter wheels and astrophotography systems designed for this diameter.
With its 12 nm bandwidth, the filter effectively blocks unwanted light at other wavelengths from ultraviolet to infrared. It suppresses emission lines from sodium and mercury vapor lamps, natural airglow and a large portion of moonlight, enabling high-contrast imaging both under dark skies and in heavily light-polluted environments.
The OIII filter allows imaging of planetary nebulae, star-forming regions and supernova remnants. Combined with H-alpha and SII filters it enables the creation of emission-line images using the HSO palette.
