iOptron GEM28 is a professional equatorial mount (EQ) designed for visual observations and astrophotography. Thanks to the use of high-class materials, as well as innovative design solutions, iOptron engineers created a product that sets new standards in the class of light assemblies adapted to carrying heavy loads.
The metal head of the assembly houses a precise drive system composed of high-resolution stepper motors, from which the torque is transferred to the declination and right ascension axes by means of a belt transmission. The highest precision of guiding the set is ensured by the advanced system of permanent correction of the periodic error, thanks to which its value is less than ten seconds of the arc.
The assembly is adapted to work with the Go2Nova® 8409 controller. This device contains information about the location of over 212,000 objects in its database, which opens up completely new observation possibilities for the user, providing hundreds of hours of communing with the best views that the night sky offers. Also included is the iPolar ™ electronic polar finder. • professional, high-capacity equatorial mount adapted to astrophotography and visual observations • the iPolar ™ polar finder and the Go2Nova® controller with a database of over 212,000 objects • permanent control of the periodic error allowing its reduction to less than 10 " • ultra-precise stepper motors with reduced energy consumption • stable LiteRoc ™ tripod with a wide range of adjustments • mounting type: equatorial (EQ) • latitude range: 10 ÷ 70 ° • azimuth adjustment range: ± 6 ° • Maximum load (excluding counterweight): 12.7 kg • maximum recommended diameter of the optical tube: 6 " • counterweight: 4.5 kg • Counterweight arm diameter: 20 mm • length of counterbalance arm: 306 mm • right ascension axis gear: aluminum, Φ88 mm, 144 teeth • Right ascension axis shaft diameter: Φ35 mm • Right ascension shaft material: steel • right ascension axis bearing: ball, Φ55 mm • gear of declination axis: aluminum, Φ88 mm, 144 teeth • diameter of the shaft of the declination axis: Φ35 mm • material of the shaft of the declination axis: steel • bearing of the declination axis: ball bearing, Φ55 mm • worm gear: brass, Φ15.2 mm • drive: 1.8 ° stepper motor, 128 microstepping • engine resolution: 0.17 " • Drive train: belt gear • periodic error control: permanent (PPEC) • maximum periodic error: <± 10 " • gear rotation period: 600 s • handheld controller: Go2Nova® 8409, ~ 212 thousand objects in the base • tracking mode: automatic • autoguiding: yes (after retrofitting with the iGuider ™ kit) • rotation speeds: 1x, 2x, 8x, 16x, 64x, 128x, 256x, 512x, MAX (6 ° / s) • polar finder: iPolar ™ (electronic) • field of view of the polar finder (FOV): ~ 13 ° • resolution of the polar finder: 30 " • polar finder matrix type: CMOS • size of the polar finder matrix: 1280 x 960 px, 1/3 " • Pixel diameter of the polar finder: 3.75 µm • level indicator: spirit level • Wifi module: yes, built-in • GPS module: optional, 32-channel • connectors: USB, ST-4 • compatibility with the ASCOM standard: yes • power supply: 12 V DC, 5 A • mains adapter: 100 - 240 V • current consumption tracking / GoTo: 0.6 A / 0.9 A • operating temperature range: -10 ÷ 40 ° C • mounting socket of the optical tube: Vixen, 3.8 " • head material: metal (cast + CNC) • head finishing: powder coating • head weight: 4.5 kg • material of the tripod: aluminum (head) / stainless steel (legs) • central fixing screw: M12, 10 " • number of leg sections: two • diameter of the legs section: 1.75 "/ 1.5" • tripod height: 765 ÷ 1168 mm • maximum distance between the tripod legs: 1520 mm • shelf for accessories: yes, metal • weight of the tripod: 7.5 kg • iOptron GEM28 assembly • Go2Nova® controller • 4.5 kg counterweight • counterweight shaft • the iPolar ™ polar finder • control cables • USB cable • network adapter • LiteRoc ™ 1.75 "tripod • documentation 24 months
