Player One Mars-C II (SKU: POA-MARS-C-II) is an ultra-sensitive one-shot color camera designed for high-speed photography of the Sun, Moon, planets, and dynamic phenomena. It uses the latest Sony IMX662 (STARVIS 2, 1/2.8″) sensor with a resolution of 2.1 MP (1936 × 1100 px) and a pixel size of 2.9 µm. With a full well of 54 ke- and readout noise as low as 0.7 e- (HCG mode), the camera offers wide dynamic range and excellent contrast at short exposures. A 256 MB DDR-III buffer ensures smooth recording up to 108 fps in full frame RAW 10, and a passive PCS radiator maintains a stable sensor temperature during long lucky imaging series.

Mars-C II Highlights

• Sony IMX662 COLOR sensor – 1/2.8″, 1936 × 1100 px, pixel 2.9 µm
• STARVIS 2 technology – QE ≈ 91%, no amp-glow artifact
• speed up to 108 fps (RAW10) / 76 fps (RAW12) in full resolution
• full well 54 ke- – up to 4.5 × larger than in IMX462
• reading noise 0.7 – 6.7 e- (HCG → LG) – high dynamic range
• 256 MB DDR-III buffer – no dropped frames even with a slow disk
• PCS system (radiator) with the possibility of connecting an active ACS module
• Super AR Plus window – high transmission 350–1000 nm, minimal reflections
• USB-C 3.0 interface (400 MiB/s) + ST-4 guider port
• threads: internal M42 × 0.75 + nose 1.25″ – back-focus 12.5 mm, full compatibility with SFT tilter and FD MINI drawer

Technical specification

• matrix: Sony IMX662 C, CMOS, rolling-shutter
• format / diagonal: 1/2.8″ (6.44 mm) – area 5.6 × 3.2 mm
• resolution: 1936 × 1100 px (2.13 MP)
• pixel size: 2.9 µm
• ADC: 12 bit / 10 bit (RAW)
• full well: 54 ke- (gain 0)
• reading noise: 0.7 e- (HCG) – 6.7 e- (gain 0)
• max. FPS: 108 fps @ RAW10 (1936 × 1100), 162 fps @ 1280 × 720
• exposures: 32 µs – 2000 s
• Buffer: 256MB DDR-III
• back-focus (with 1.25″ nose): 12.5 mm
• dimensions / weight: Ø 66 mm × 32 mm / 150 g
• cooling: PCS passive; optional ACS module (active)
• Power supply: 5V DC from USB-C (≤ 0.45A)
• systems: Windows 7/10/11 (ASCOM), macOS, Linux (INDI)

Mars-C II is the ideal camera for fast color astrophotography: recording colorful details of Jupiter's atmosphere, Saturn's rings, the surface of the Moon, photosphere granulation or dynamic phenomena such as the ISS. High sensitivity in the near infrared allows effective use of IR-pass 685/850 nm filters, improving sharpness in difficult seeing conditions.
