The Benchmade 945 Mini Osborne is a smaller version of the iconic edc knife, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
The Osborne 940 knife designed by Warren Osborne is without one of the most popular edc knives in the world. The success is due to a light and functional structure and the use of high-quality materials that guarantee durability and operational reliability.
Benchmade 945 Mini Osborne retains the functionality and unique style of the iconic 940 model, but thanks to its reduced size, it is much more comfortable and practical in everyday use. The 74 mm long head is made of the elite CPM-S30V stainless steel. S30V powder steel by Crucible Industries is hardened to the optimum hardness of 58-60 HRC, therefore it maintains high sharpness for a long time, has high mechanical strength and is also resistant to corrosion. Due to the high content of vanadium carbides, the steel is distinguished by high toughness and abrasion resistance, as well as excellent cutting properties. The blade is covered with a layer of black Teflon, which protects the blade from minor scratches.
When choosing a hard steel knife, you should get a diamond sharpener as sharpening with a standard ceramic sharpener can be very laborious and inefficient. The knife has a satin reverse-tanto blade with a distinct false blade reducing the weight of the blade. Due to the use of a durable point, high flat grinding and a cutting edge with a smoothly rounded line, the knife penetrates easily and has good cutting properties. The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 2.6 mm, which is a compromise between durability and functionality of the knives in everyday work. The blade can be unfolded instantly with one hand using the double-sided pin. Thanks to this functionality, the knife is not only ready to work in the blink of an eye, but also can be conveniently operated by both right-handed and left-handed people. The flagship Benchmade mechanism, a two-sided Axis-lock blockade, is responsible for work safety, valued for its great mechanical strength, resistance to dirt and convenient operation for right and left-handed users. The knife is faced with anodized aviation aluminum 6061-T6, which is attached to steel liners, which ensure the rigidity and strength of the structure. One of the main advantages of aluminum, apart from durability and the possibility of precise processing, is its light weight, which is inevitably related to the ease of carrying and use of the knife. The profiled handle is wider at the base, which makes the knife grip comfortable and the hand will not slip onto the blade during operation. A taste that will please every knife lover are the violet anodized distance sleeves. The lining is completed with a steel clip that allows the knife to be conveniently carried in a pocket or on a belt. The clip can be attached to both the left and right side of the handle. • Headstock Profile: Reverse Tanto • total length: 172 mm • blade length: 74 mm • length after folding: 97 mm • blade thickness: 2.6 mm • steel hardness [HRC]: 58-60 • construction: foldable, Axis Lock • opening: thumb pin • level of corrosion resistance: high • resistance to stamping: very high • developer: Benchmade, USA • weight: 57 g 24 months
