Celestron Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt (RASA) 36 is a professional, ultra-fast (f / 2.2) astrograph designed for taking photographs in a wide field of view with the use of color CCD, CMOS cameras and small mirrorless cameras. This instrument is also recommended for scientific research and continuous monitoring of objects under the Space Situational Awareness (SSA) program .
The optical system of this astrograph is a patented construction (patent US 2016/0299331 A1) consisting of a main mirror, a Schmidt corrector and a group of four lenses made of glass with reduced dispersion (ED). The advantage of this solution is the possibility of obtaining a flat image without optical defects (coma, astigmatism and chromatic aberrations), while maintaining a wide field of view and a very large light (this instrument collects almost 850 times more ¶ light than the human eye). In order to minimize light reflections and to improve the contrast of the obtained image, the lenses were covered with a multi-layer StarBright XLT ™ coating, while the main mirror was covered with a reflective layer made of aluminum.
Unlike other popular telescopes, which show good optical characteristics only for the visible light (400 - 700 nm), the Celestron Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt 36 astrograph has an extended spectral range, ranging from 400 to 900 nm.
The whole is closed in a durable, aluminum tube equipped with an active cooling system, which significantly improves the process of temperature adaptation, which sometimes takes several hours.
Attention! As the image is captured by a camera placed in the focus of the main mirror, this instrument can only be used in astrophotography. It is not suitable for visual observations. Due to the high weight of the instrument, one should remember to place it on a sufficiently stable mount adapted to such a heavy load. It is recommended that the astrograph be carried by two people. • Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt optical system with StarBright XLT ™ coating, providing powerful light and aberration-free field of view covering the entire surface of the full-frame sensor • The diameter of the full illumination circle is 60 mm, allowing the use of cameras with the largest sensors available on the market • extended spectral range allowing for effective registration of light in the 400 - 900 nm range • stabilized focusing system equipped with a linear ball bearing compatible with the Starlight Instruments drive • integrated cooling system accelerating the process of temperature adaptation of the telescope • double dovetail CGE mounting rail • optical system: Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt • aperture: 355.6 mm • focal length: 790 mm • lighted: f / 2.2 • central obstruction (diameter / percentage of aperture): 158 mm / 44% • spectral range: 400 - 900 nm • Rayleigh / Dawes resolution: 0.39 "/ 0.36" • Diameter of the optical window: 104 mm • diameter of full illumination wheel: 60.1 mm • field of view circle of full illumination: 4.4 ° • useful field of view diameter: 70 mm • useful field of view: 5.1 ° • spot size: <6.3 µm RMS • off-axis illumination: 83% @ 30 mm • finder: missing • fokuser: Ultra-Stable Focusing System • back focus (with attached adapter): 55 mm • back focus (from the end of the thread): 77.5 mm • type of optical system coating: StarBright XLT ™ • main mirror cover: aluminum • mounting for assembly: double dovetail CGE rail • tube material: aluminum • cooling: active, built-in, fan with magnetic suspension • Diameter of the optical tube: 406 mm • length of the optical tube: 1080 mm • weight of the optical tube: 34 kg • CMOS / CCD astronomical cameras with M42 mount: yes (via an M48 - M42 adapter and a suitable intermediate ring) • CMOS / CCD astronomical cameras with M48 mount: yes (through the included adapter) • CMOS / CCD astronomical cameras with other mounts: yes (through appropriate adapters available separately) • DSLR cameras - DSLR: yes (through the M48 adapter and a separately available T-ring dedicated to a given photographic system) • Celestron Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt astrograph (RASA) 36 • M48 adapter for mounting a CCD / CMOS camera • battery compartment for the fan 24 months
