Tele Vue TRF-2008 is a combination of a professional flattener and a 0.8x focal length reducer. This device has been designed as an accessory dedicated to Tele Vue TV-76 and TV-85 refractors, but it can also cooperate with telescopes with a focal length of 400 - 600 mm offered by other manufacturers.

The optical design of this instrument maintains a back focus distance of 55mm, which is typical of the vast majority of digital SLR cameras.

This product can be connected directly to telescopes with a 2 inch hoist. The camera or camera is mounted using a standard T2 thread.

Important expert note

It should be remembered that this device is characterized by a constant backfocus value, ie the distance from the lens to the primary focus, eg the matrix of a digital camera. In general, both the reduction factor for focal length reducers and its increase for Barlow lenses change with distance from the main focus, so you can easily choose the value you want.

However, if we are dealing with flatteners or field correctors, the value of the backfocus must be strictly defined and cannot be changed. This means that a sharp image can only be obtained when the user sets the correct focal length, which sometimes requires a precision of 0.1 mm.

Most of the zoom accessories of this type have the focal length specified by the manufacturer. However, if you cannot find this information in the manual or on the website, make the general assumption that a typical back-focus value in astrophotography is 55 mm.
