Tele Vue Nagler 17 mm Type 4 is a wide-angle astronomical eyepiece belonging to the legendary Nagler series developed by Al Nagler – one of the most outstanding designers of observational optics. All models in this series are connected by a common idea: the maximum wide field of view while maintaining the highest comfort of observation.
The 17mm Type 4 is a seven-element optical design with an 82° field of view, providing excellent sharpness and contrast throughout the field. The lenses are made of high-quality optical glass with a selected refractive index, and their surfaces are covered with full multi-layer coatings (FMC). The darkened lens edges reduce reflections and improve contrast. The eyepiece features a long exit pupil distance, making it an excellent choice for people who wear prescription glasses.
Type 4 has the longest exit pupil distance of all the Nagler eyepieces, which also include the parfocal Type 6 eyepieces and the Type 5 models that provide the largest actual field of view. • 82° wide-angle eyepiece with a focal length of 17 mm • 7-element construction with chromatic aberration correction • full FMC coatings and darkened lens edges • high observation comfort – exit pupil distance 17 mm • compatible with Tele Vue type 5 and 6 eyepieces (Nagler series) • eyepiece series: Tele Vue Nagler, type 4 • optical system: 7-element • apparent field of view (AFoV): 82° • focal length: 17 mm • Diaphragm diameter: 24.3 mm • exit pupil distance: 17 mm • eyecup: foldable • coatings: full multi-layer (FMC) • Frame diameter: 2" • length: 104.1 mm • Maximum diameter: 61 mm • weight: 726 g • Tele Vue Nagler 17 mm Type 4 eyepiece 60 months
