Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Mini sets new standards in simple, mobile wide-field astrophotography. It is a small and inconspicuous device, which in fact is a precise and advanced equatorial head with a number of very useful features.

The MINI version is the newest Sky-Watcher head, for people who do not need a high load capacity of the Star Adventurer head. The Mini Star Adventurer head has a load capacity of 3 kg, which is sufficient for the use of an SLR camera with a short telephoto lens (up to 85 - 100 mm).

The most interesting, however, is hidden in the way of controlling the head. In the Mini version, Star Adventurer is fully Wi-Fi controlled via a free application that works on all Android and iOS mobile devices. Just download and install the application:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skywatcher.samini

Insert the batteries into the Star Adventurer Mini head and activate the Wi-Fi network in your mobile device. Communication with the head takes place once, when the settings for the current session are sent to it. During the session, it is possible to switch off the network automatically, which saves the battery of the mobile device and the batteries in the head, especially on frosty nights. Through the application, the user has influence on many parameters of the head and the SLR, connected with a remote shutter release cable (2.5 mm jack - for Canon EOS):

1. Astrophoto mode
• duration of each exposure (1, 2, 3, ... s)
• delay between successive exposures
• number of exposures
• total duration of all exposures in hours
• tracking speed (star, solar, lunar, 0.5x star, 2x star)

2. Astro Time-lapse mode
• duration of each exposure (1, 2, 3, ... s)
• total duration of all exposures in hours
• length of the resulting movie sequence in seconds
• the number of frames per second of the resulting movie sequence
• tracking speed (star, solar, lunar, 0.5x star, 2x star)

3. Time-lapse and long-exposure Time-lapse modes
as above, and additionally:
• head rotation range expressed in degrees
• number of turns to be made by the head
• direction and speed of rotation (° / s - degrees per second)

4. Preview of the polar finder view
• the position of the Pole Star
• time and location data from the GPS of the mobile device
• remote switching on / off of the polar finder illumination

5. Manual control
A complete set of functions allows you to quickly and efficiently take high-quality photos of the night sky. In addition to many convenient exposure parameters, the head has a mini USB port (for power supply). Thanks to this head, you can create not only beautiful astrophotographs using many single frames, but also time lapse sequences with a moving background and a relatively new and very fashionable form of night photography - star scapes, where the main role is played by beautifully starry sky, closely followed by the Star Adventurer head.

The modern solution of the DC servo drive allows not only precise control of the tracking speed, but also is a compact and very economical solution - Star Adventurer can work even for several days left on one set batteries or rechargeable batteries - only two AA (LR6) batteries required.

The work with the head is facilitated by a very precise, illuminated polar scope with a field of view of 10 degrees (included), which cannot be achieved with much larger and more expensive equatorial assemblies. It takes into account the correction of the North Pole position due to precession, and hitting the pole is facilitated by legible descriptions and the annual scale.

The head has a 3/8 inch tripod mount with a reduction to 1/4 inch and an adapter with a 1/4 inch tripod thread, mounted to the head with a dovetail in the Vixen standard. It is possible to retrofit the Star Adventurer head with a high quality ball head, which gives the photographer unlimited freedom in the selection of the photo composition. For ergonomic and functional reasons, the Star Adventurer has one movable right ascension axis which can be quickly repositioned during operation by means of an adjustable mechanical clutch.
