18mm eyepiece StarGuider ED is a perfect eyepiece for medium magnifications, and therefore magnifications used practically every observational night, both for observing the moon, planets, and star clusters or nebulae. It is structurally constructed of six lenses in four groups, including two ED elements (low dispersion). Thanks to this, it allows for high contrast, excellent fidelity of color reproduction and extremely low levels of astigmatism and distortion, even in a short focal length telescope. In telescopes with long focal lengths, it allows you to obtain a diameter. For example, in a 200 mm (8 ") f / 10 catadiopttrial telescope, we get a magnification of 111x and a field of view of 0.54 °, very convenient to observe the entire Moon's face or to observe globular clusters and planetary nebulae. In short refractors, such as apochromats, we can expect a magnification in the 20-30x range, almost binocular, with excellent quality of color and shape reproduction.
In addition, the eyepiece is characterized by a 13 mm offset of the eye relief , which is a very good result. In combination with the retractable eyecup, the eyepiece is also suitable for people wearing prescription goggles.
An own field of view equal to 60 ° allows for easier finding and keeping the observed object in view.
StarGuider ED goggles are also known under the earlier trade name BST ED and Paradigm Dual ED.
