The ZWO FF131 APO is a large flat-field apochromatic astrograph with a 131 mm aperture, 983 mm focal length and f/7.5 focal ratio. The optical tube is intended for deep-sky astrophotography and visual observation. The four-element APO optical system with air-spaced elements includes one ED glass element and has been designed to provide a corrected image field for full-frame cameras.
The flat-field design includes built-in field correction, so the FF131 APO does not require an additional field flattener. The 44 mm image circle allows the use of full-frame sensors, while the lack of a rigid 55 mm backfocus requirement makes it easier to configure the photographic optical train. In imaging mode, focus can be achieved with an effective optical path length of 42-73 mm from the M48 × 0.75 thread or 60-91 mm from the M54 × 0.75 thread.
The telescope is equipped with a 3" rack-and-pinion focuser with a 1:10 microfocuser, a 360° rotator and an extended rear photographic adapter system with M78, M54 and M48 threads. The retractable dew shield with locking screw reduces the tube length during transport, while internal baffles help suppress stray light. The set includes a 300 mm Losmandy dovetail plate designed for stable mounting of the larger optical tube.
