The Sky Rover Optics 108 mm SAP F/4.8 Medium Format Specialist Astrograph Petzval is an advanced telescope designed specifically for wide-field astrophotography. This model from the SAP (Specialist Astrograph Petzval) series uses a complex Petzval optical system that provides a native flat field without the need for an additional field flattener. As a result, it delivers pinpoint stars across the entire image field and excellent detail reproduction for deep-sky imaging.
The optical system is based on a quintuplet Petzval design incorporating SD glass elements, effectively minimizing chromatic aberration and maintaining high sharpness across the full image circle. The telescope supports a usable image circle of up to 55 mm, making it suitable for medium-format cameras as well as full-frame sensors. The fast F/4.8 focal ratio provides strong light-gathering capability and allows deep-sky objects to be captured with shorter exposure times.
The telescope is equipped with a precision 3.7" Rack & Pinion focuser with full 360° rotation and tilt adjustment capability. The integrated STR Multi-Function Focal Plane Adjuster allows precise adjustment of the focal plane, image rotation, and sensor tilt correction. The mechanical structure is made from CNC-machined aluminum and includes solid mounting rings, a retractable dew shield, and a multi-function handle with several mounting points for accessories such as guiders or auxiliary cameras.
