Astronomik OWB Type 3 XT Clip-Filter EOS R XL (Astronomik, SKU: 10212084) is a filter that restores standard colour rendering in a camera modified for astrophotography. It compensates for the altered spectral response after removal or replacement of the factory filter, allowing the body to be used for daytime photography again.
OWB stands for Original White Balance. Type 3 is intended for astro and Full Spectrum modifications and allows the use of the camera’s white balance settings, including AWB. The glass is 0.5 mm thick, so identical focus to standard 1 mm Astronomik filters should not be assumed.
The Clip mount places the filter inside a compatible camera body, in front of the sensor. This allows the same filter to be used with different compatible lenses or a telescope and reduces dust settling on the sensor. The correct version must be selected for both the camera model and the lens.
