The Oberwerk 120XL-SD is a new addition to the premium XL SD line, positioned between the 100XL-SD and the 127XL-SD in both aperture and price. Equipped with 120 mm FCD100 SD apochromatic objectives (focal length 670 mm) and 27 mm free-aperture prisms (the same as in the 127XL-SD), it delivers optical performance remarkably close to the larger model—yet at a lower cost and with about 2.3 kg less weight.
Despite its large aperture, the binocular remains surprisingly manageable: the magnesium-alloy body keeps the total weight to only 8.8 kg. As with all SD models, it features the elegant “Luna Pearl” finish with gold anodized accents.
Included are Oberwerk’s finest 14 mm, 8-element eyepieces (70° AFOV), providing 48× magnification. Optional configurations include 30× (22 mm) and 96× (7 mm).
A rugged wheeled hard case ensures safe and convenient transport. Each unit is individually collimated and tested up to 168× (tolerance <6 arcseconds), guaranteeing perfectly merged images even at high magnifications.
