Saddle Powerbox (PegasusAstro, SKU: PEG-SADDLEPBOX) combines a robust dual-standard telescope saddle (Vixen / 3" Losmandy) with a compact power distribution hub and a powered USB hub, purpose-built to simplify cabling in astrophotography rigs. It secures your telescope like a regular clamp while providing 12 V power outputs, PWM dew-heater channels, USB connectivity and live power monitoring - all integrated at the mount head.
The unit provides four 12 V outputs (switched on/off together as one group) and two independent 12 V PWM channels for dew heaters. The PWM channels can also be switched to constant 12 V, increasing the total number of 12 V outputs to six. The controller is designed for up to 10 A (120 W) total distributed current, with an input voltage and total current meter to keep track of overall consumption during an imaging session.
A built-in powered USB hub offers two USB 3.x (SuperSpeed) ports and two USB 2.0 ports. USB ports can provide up to 3 A, which is suitable for powering 5 V devices when needed. Environmental monitoring is handled by the integrated temperature and humidity sensor, while the AutoDew function can automatically adjust dew-heater PWM levels based on dew point calculation. Saddle Powerbox can be controlled from a PC via USB or used as a standalone device - once configured, it can restore saved settings on boot without requiring a computer every time.
Saddle Powerbox can be mounted directly on the Pegasus NYX-101 without additional parts, while optional “pucks” are available for many popular third-party mounts (including ZWO AM5/AM3, Sky-Watcher EQ6/NEQ6, EQ6-R, HEQ5, AZ-EQ6, RST-135/300, iOptron CEM26/GEM28, Star Adventurer GTi and Avalon M-UNO). This makes it a convenient central point for power and USB distribution close to the moving parts of the mount.
