Pocket Powerbox Advance Gen2 (PegasusAstro, SKU: PEG-PPBADV) is a compact yet highly capable power management controller designed for mobile and semi-permanent astrophotography setups. Positioned between the Pocket Powerbox Micro and the Ultimate Powerbox v2/v3, it delivers significantly expanded functionality while maintaining a lightweight and space-saving form factor.
The unit provides four 12 V DC outputs driven by robust MOSFET transistors, controlled as a single group (ON/OFF), with a total current capacity of up to 12 A. In addition, a regulated adjustable output (3, 5, 7, 8, 9 or 12 V, up to 3 A) is available, making it ideal for powering DSLR or mirrorless cameras as well as single-board computers such as Raspberry Pi. This makes the Pocket Powerbox Advance a true central power hub for an entire imaging rig.
An integrated powered USB 3 hub offers four ports in total: two USB 3 SuperSpeed ports and two USB 2.0 ports. USB 3 ports are fully backward compatible with USB 2 devices. One USB port provides high current output up to 3 A, allowing direct power delivery to 5 V devices such as Raspberry Pi or compact PCs. Separate USB controllers ensure that slower USB 2 traffic does not affect SuperSpeed data transfers.
The Pocket Powerbox Advance features two 12 V PWM channels with RCA outputs for dew heaters or flat panels. The included temperature and humidity sensor enables automatic dew heater power adjustment (AutoDew) based on calculated dew point. Built-in voltmeters and multiple ammeters allow detailed monitoring of total power consumption as well as individual power sections.
The device can operate either under PC control via USB or in standalone mode. Once configured, all settings are stored and automatically restored on startup, eliminating the need to connect a computer every time. All electronics are housed in a very compact, lightweight, blue anodized aluminum enclosure, suitable for field use and remote observatories.
