Uranus Meteo Sensor (PegasusAstro, SKU: PEG-URANUS) is a compact, handheld meteorological sensor designed as an all-around companion for astronomers and astrophotographers. Smaller than a cigarette box, the device integrates an advanced network of digital environmental sensors together with an internal GPS receiver.
The sensor measures and reports ambient temperature, relative humidity, dew point, atmospheric pressure (absolute and sea-level corrected), barometric and GPS altitude, cloud coverage, sky temperature, cloud height, night-sky brightness, and astronomical parameters such as Moon phase, Moon age, and astronomical twilight time. All measurements are displayed directly on the built-in red screen through clear, menu-based pages.
Night-sky brightness is measured by a highly sensitive digital sensor operating at a 30° angle, allowing fast evaluation of sky quality. Readings are shown simultaneously in multiple scales: magnitudes per arcsecond squared (MPSAS), naked-eye limiting magnitude, Bortle scale, and lux. This enables direct comparison of sky brightness between locations and long-term documentation of increasing light pollution.
Uranus Meteo Sensor features internal memory banks capable of storing complete sensor datasets together with GPS coordinates. Recorded data can be retrieved via USB and exported to the Pegasus Astro Unity Platform, where historic environmental records of visited sites can be archived and visualized on maps.
The integrated GPS receiver provides accurate date and time, latitude and longitude, altitude, speed, and bearing. These data are also used to calculate precise astronomical dawn and twilight times for the current location. The GPS port can output full NMEA messages either through USB or via an RS232 serial interface, compatible for example with 10Micron mounts (optional cable required).
The device can be used as a standalone handheld instrument or connected to a PC or laptop via USB2. The enclosure is manufactured from high-quality blue anodized aluminum and incorporates a rechargeable NiMH battery charged through a USB-C port. Two mounting holes on the bottom allow secure installation on a telescope or inside an observatory.
