The O3 7 nm photographic filter in a 2" mount (PegasusAstro, SKU: PEG-FLTR-2M-O3) is a narrowband filter designed for nebula observation and imaging in the OIII emission lines. It provides a 7 nm bandwidth centered at 500 nm, corresponding to the OIII emission lines, while significantly reducing unwanted background light.
The filter reduces the transmission of artificial light produced by high- and low-pressure sodium and mercury vapor lamps, as well as unwanted natural light caused by neutral oxygen emission in our atmosphere (skyglow). This helps improve contrast in narrowband imaging, especially when capturing nebular structures in the OIII band.
It features 1/4 wavefront polishing and multilayer anti-reflection coatings. The parfocal design supports multi-filter imaging workflows without the need to refocus when switching filters. The 2" M48-threaded cell is compatible with common filter wheels and adapters.
• OIII narrowband filter with 7 nm bandwidth
• central wavelength: 500 nm (OIII emission lines)
• suppression of sodium and mercury light pollution
• reduced impact of atmospheric skyglow (neutral oxygen emission)
• parfocal construction for multi-filter imaging setups
• multilayer anti-reflection coatings
