SESTO SENSO 3 (PrimaLuceLab, SKU: SESTOSENSO3) is the most advanced robotic focusing motor for external Crayford or rack-and-pinion focusers. It combines precision, flexibility, and convenience in a compact enclosure. Designed and manufactured in Italy by PrimaLuceLab, it introduces key innovations such as the integrated position encoder, which allows manual focuser movement without losing motor position (Automatic Position Recovery function), and the new Self Centering Clamp 2 (SCC2) mounting system for quick installation on most focusers without external brackets or adapters.

SESTO SENSO 3 features a lightweight, enclosed body integrating all components — controller, motor, and ports — in one unit. All connectors are conveniently positioned on the side: USB-C for connection to a computer or EAGLE unit, 12V DC power port (5.5/2.5 mm, center-positive), ARCO port, and a temperature sensor input. The built-in LED indicators are dimmable and can be completely turned off in DARK mode, eliminating stray light during astrophotography. With the new SCC2 mounting system, installation is fast and tool-free. The motor is compatible with many popular focusers, including Sky-Watcher EVOSTAR, EVOLUX, ESPRIT, GSO RC, FeatherTouch, and Baader SteelTrack.
The integrated position encoder precisely tracks focuser shaft movement, allowing manual operation of the coarse focus knob without losing motor alignment. The Automatic Position Recovery function automatically restores the previous focus position when manual movement is detected — ideal for public or educational observatories or in case of accidental focuser movement.
The modern USB-C interface ensures fast, stable, and secure connectivity to Windows 10/11 computers, resistant to accidental disconnection — perfect for portable or remote setups. The built-in Wi-Fi module enables fully wireless operation from a smartphone or tablet without any physical hand controller. The Virtual HandPad provides convenient and precise control of the focuser position, including the ability to save and recall preset focus points.
SESTO SENSO 3 works seamlessly with PLAY, PrimaLuceLab’s dedicated astrophotography software, which offers precise remote focus control, autofocus, temperature compensation, and preset management. The motor also supports ASCOM drivers, ensuring full compatibility with leading astrophotography programs such as NINA, Sequence Generator Pro, and MaxIm DL. The integrated ARCO port allows direct connection to the ARCO rotator, providing power and data through a single cable.
When used with EAGLE computers, SESTO SENSO 3 supports GHOST mode for complete wireless operation without a USB cable, as well as easy firmware updates via the PLAY software. When paired with the optional temperature probe, it automatically compensates for focus shifts caused by temperature fluctuations — especially useful with fast optical systems (f/3 or faster).
