Daystar Filters Metal Solar Filter with Poly White Light Film – size 160 (SKU: WLF160) is a white-light solar filter designed for safe solar observing and imaging with telescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes and camera lenses. The construction combines a durable metal mounting cell with Thousand Oaks Solarlite solar film, allowing safe viewing or imaging of the Sun with a warm yellow-orange appearance.
The Solarlite film has an optical density of ND 5, blocking approximately 99.999% of incoming solar radiation and meeting the transmission requirements of the ISO 12312-2:2015 standard for direct solar observation. The filter material consists of a metallic reflective coating applied to a black polymer substrate, ensuring that small scratches or pinholes do not compromise safety unless the film itself is torn or punctured.
