The Nexstar Evolution series telescopes are excellent Schmidt-Cassegrain tubes with innovative Edge HD optics. Compared to the popular Nexstar SE series, numerous innovations have been implemented here, from improved optical tubes through the mount to technical innovations that facilitate the use of the telescope.

Telescope tube

Nexstar 8 HD is a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with an aperture of 203mm and a focal length of 2032mm. This is an aplanatic version with a modified aspherical correction plate and modern StarBright XLT coatings. Edge HD technology allows for a flat and flawless field of view, ideal for astrophotography. The new system in particular reduces coma and improves resolution at the edge of the field of view. This allows for excellent results even with large-format CCD cameras - correct images are obtained for matrices with a diagonal of up to 52mm. Compared to previous versions, the Edge HD tubes also have a number of mechanical improvements. Among other things, the mounting of the main mirror has been improved, eliminating the so-called mirror shift.

The rear part of the tube has ventilation holes with special filters that prevent dust from entering the tube. In addition, these holes speed up the process of equalizing the temperature inside the tube with the ambient temperature, which is of paramount importance for the quality of the image obtained. All Edge HD telescopes are equipped with the Fastar system, which allows the CCD camera to be placed directly in the primary focus of the telescope. The collimation procedure has also been simplified, which can now be performed with knobs without the use of tools.

Installation

The Nexstar Evolution 8 Edge HD telescope has received a completely new altazimuth mount with very precise motors and worm gears on both axes. Compared to previous versions, the inaccuracy of searching and tracking objects has been radically reduced. The lightweight lithium-ion battery built into the mount is very efficient even in winter conditions. It allows for 10 hours of field work without the need to connect to the mains, which frees us from the trouble of tangled cables.

The biggest news, however, is the innovative way of controlling the telescope – wirelessly, via WiFi! Everything is done using a smartphone with the appropriate software, supplied by Celestron with the telescope. The software is rich in multimedia and can realistically present the appearance of the sky at any time.

An additional curiosity is the StarSense module. Even if we have never operated a telescope before, each of us can become an astronomer in an instant. All we need to do is connect the device to the telescope, and after selecting the alignment command on the included StarSense remote control, the AutoAlign function will start photographing the celestial sphere and compare the obtained images with the internal database. After just three minutes, the amount of data acquired will be sufficient to determine your own position and align the mount. After this operation, the telescope is ready to find and show the user the most interesting stars, planets, galaxies and many other astronomical objects visible in the sky. It couldn't be easier!

Evolution Series Features:

• built-in WiFi – the telescope does not require a classic Go-To controller on a cable. Simply install the included software on your smartphone or tablet to operate the telescope via a wireless network
• free Celestron software – allows you to obtain a realistic image of the sky for a given moment, and also has many advanced options – among others, it allows you to predict the moments of visibility of the Great Red Spot on Jupiter, determines the transits of the Callilean Moons, and for other objects – moments of eclipse, conjunctions, sunrises and sunsets. The program suggests the most interesting nebula objects to the observer. Additionally, many of the objects have extensive descriptions illustrated with beautiful photos
• internal lithium-ion battery with long service life - charged using an external charger. The battery guarantees 10 hours of continuous operation
• precisely made gears and modified engines - enable obtaining high precision of guidance. Worm gears are used both in the azimuth axis and in the height axis, which allows to minimize backlash. This is a great improvement in relation to the currently produced SE series
• skyAlign – a simple and quick method of aligning the telescope based on three bright stars in the sky
• NexStar+ controller included - although the telescope can be operated via WiFi, the NexStar+ controller, typically used in Celestron telescopes, has also been added for full functionality
• improved tripod – all tripod elements are made of metal, which significantly improves the load-bearing capacity and stability of the structure. The tripod legs have several markers that allow for easy leveling at different heights.
• quick assembly and disassembly – all elements are screwed using comfortable screws with large handles. The telescope can be assembled without using any tools in a very short time
• 4 AUX ports – allow you to connect additional devices to the Evolution mount. In particular, this port can be useful for connecting the StarSense system, which allows for automatic setting
• power supply included - the telescope has a universal mains power supply that allows operation at different supply voltages and with different types of plugs. Power supply parameters: 12V 2.1A
• accessory table – allows you to attach 3 x 1.25" eyepieces, 1 x 2" eyepiece, as well as other accessories. The table does not need to be dismantled when folding the tripod legs

Due to the portable nature of the set, it does not come with a power supply. The only accessory is a car power supply.
