The Celestron Advanced VX series takes its name from the equatorial mount equipped with the Go-To system. The series includes a variety of optical tubes, from Newtonian telescopes to refractors and advanced Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. The excellent optics combined with the strong and precise Advanced VX mount open up a wide range of possibilities for both visual observers and astrophotography. The CPC Deluxe 800 HD is a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with an aperture of 203mm (8") and a focal length of 2032mm. This is an aplanatic version with a modified aspherical correction plate and modern StarBright XLT coatings. The Edge HD technology allows for a flat and flawless field of view, ideal for astrophotography. The new system in particular reduces coma and improves resolution at the edge of the field of view. This allows for excellent results even with large-format CCD cameras - correct images are obtained for matrices with a diagonal of up to 52mm. Compared to previous versions, the Edge HD tubes also have a number of mechanical improvements. Among other things, the mounting of the main mirror has been improved, eliminating the so-called mirror shift. The rear part of the tube has ventilation holes with special filters that prevent dust from entering the tube. In addition, these holes accelerate the process of equalizing the temperature inside the tube with the ambient temperature, which is of paramount importance for the quality of the image obtained. All Edge HD telescopes are equipped with the Fastar system, which allows the CCD camera to be placed directly in the primary focus of the telescope. The collimation procedure has also been simplified, which can now be performed with knobs without the use of tools. The Advanced VX mount is equipped with a Go-To system, which allows for automatic targeting and tracking of objects. This mount is the successor to the popular CG5GT. It is perfect for learning astrophotography and allows you to hang quite a wide range of optical tubes of different types. This mount contains some elements known from the CGEM model, some from the CG5 GT as well as several new solutions. Compared to the CG5GT, the motors have been changed - these are high-speed motors, better coping with larger loads. The mount is equipped with the option of reducing the periodic error with the recording of the PPEC characteristic. To correct the guidance, you can use the autoguider, on the head there is a typical socket in the ST-4 standard. From the mechanical side, a great convenience is the possibility of adjusting the polar axis using a large, convenient screw - similarly to the CGEM mount. The whole thing is ergonomically made and can be quickly and easily disassembled into its component elements for transport.
From the electronic side, the heart of the system is the Go-To NexStar+ controller. This controller is an improved version of the NexStar known from previous versions. The display's resistance to low temperatures is particularly noteworthy. The new controller is also more ergonomic and intuitive to use. The manufacturer's declared load capacity is 13.5 kg (without counterweights).
