The Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph (RASA) V2 is a cost-effective optical system for space observation, space orientation (SSA), other scientific applications, and advanced wide-field astro-imaging. It offers unprecedented value in aperture, speed, field of view, and optical performance.

The RASA V2 design features a convenient external image capture location with a flat focal plane, providing small spot sizes at the edge of a wide field. The result is images free from optical aberrations such as field curvature, off-axis coma, and astigmatism.

Designed exclusively for astrophotography, it cannot be used visually. The focal plane in the primary focus setting is at the front of the optical system, so a traditional eyepiece cannot be used.

The RASA 36 V2 is equipped with the new Ultra-Stable Focusing System (USFS). The heart of this system is a precision linear ball bearing. The bearing minimizes focus shift (the unwanted lateral movement of the primary mirror during focusing that causes the image to shift) and mirror roll (the movement of the primary mirror when the telescope is pointed at different positions in the sky). The USFS is compatible with Celestron's automatic focus motor (#94155-A). An integrated 12V DC MagLev fan shortens cooling time and ensures optimal airflow through the OTA dust filter. The RASA's long focus distance of 36 cm (77.5 mm backfocus) allows the use of a wide range of sensors. By using a custom adapter, a field of view of up to 4.4 degrees can be achieved.

The 36 cm aperture version is Celestron's largest RASA model; it is the largest and fastest (f/2.2) optical instrument of its type available off the shelf. Unlike most telescopes that focus only visible light (400-700 nm), the RASA 36 cm focuses in an extended spectral range (400-900 nm), allowing the camera sensor to detect a brighter signal.
