If you are looking for a portable telescope with a lot of possibilities, then compact catadioptric designs are definitely worth considering. The C14-A XLT is a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with an impressive 14" aperture. The tube weighs 20.0 kg and is 787 mm long - considering the huge aperture, it is safe to say that it is still quite a handy telescope.
Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with a mirror diameter of 356 mm and a focal length of 3910 mm - the largest SCT produced by Celestron. It consists of a primary mirror, an aspherical corrective plate, a secondary mirror and an angled attachment with an eyepiece. Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes usually have a shorter focal length than Maksutov telescopes with a comparable aperture, which makes them more universal. All the more so because in these telescopes the light intensity can be reduced to f/6.3 using a special focal reducer, which is mounted in the eyepiece extension tube. SCT telescopes are short, relatively light, and with large apertures they are more practical in use than Newtonian telescopes. Focusing is done as in Maksutov telescopes using a knob on the rear wall of the telescope, turning the knob causes the mirror of such a telescope to move forward or backward, which changes the position of the focus at the exit of the optical tube. The telescope optics are covered with StarBright XLT coatings, thanks to which the transmission of light increases by as much as 16% compared to traditional coatings!
A telescope of this size allows for very advanced observations of the Moon and planets, and under dark skies it will spectacularly show numerous deep-sky objects such as open clusters, globular clusters, planetary nebulae and bright galaxies.
The tube is equipped with a dovetail rail in the CGE standard.
The set also includes a mirror angle attachment, a 9x50 optical finder and a 40mm eyepiece. • Catalog Number: 91038-XLT • Telescope optical system: Schmidt-Cassegrain • Mounting type: No mounting • Aperture: 356 mm • Focal length: 3910 mm • Light intensity: f/11.0 • Stellar range: 15.4 magnitude • Maximum usable magnification: 712 x • Maximum resolving power (Rayleigh): 0.40 " • Maximum resolving power (Dawes): 0.33 " • Collective capacity: 2586 x • Tube weight: 21.0 kg • Tube length: 787 mm • Tube diameter: 401 mm • Focuser type: SCT/MAK • Focuser diameter: 2 " • Secondary mirror diameter: 114 mm • Central obstruction: 32% • Coatings: StarBright XLT • Mounting rail: Losmandy • Warranty period: 36 months
