The H-beta filter isolates only light with a wavelength of λ=486 nm, completely blocking the rest of the spectrum. In this way, we obtain the highest contrast between the blackness of the sky and the delicate glow in the H-beta band. For some objects, only a combination of good visibility, a large telescope and an H-beta filter gives a chance to see them. At the same time, the filter completely eliminates anthropogenic light pollution. The filter has been exceptionally precisely ground so that the surfaces are perfectly parallel and accurate over the entire surface. The new generation of Baader Planetarium filters is ideal for photography with CMOS and CCD cameras.

The CMOS-optimized H-Beta narrowband filter has the following specifications:

• filter size: 1.25”
• 5.5 nm FWHM bandwidth, recommended for optical systems from f/10 to f/3.5
• Reflex-Blocker™ hard coated and optically polished – with sealed coating edges (Life-Coat™)
• blackened edges all around, with an indicator on the filter side in the form of a black outer rim on the telescope side
• optimized for modern CMOS cameras, but also perfect for CCD camera technology
• increased contrast
• Reflex-Blocker™ coatings, providing the greatest freedom from halos ever, even in the most adverse conditions
• FWHM in each filter category carefully designed to allow 1:1:1 exposures, matching typical CMOS quantum efficiency and s/n ratio
• identical filter thickness to existing standards, with the highest attention to parfocality
• blackened edges all around, with a filter outlet indicator in the form of a black outer rim at the front to further eliminate any reflections of light falling on the filter edge
• each filter individually coated, with a sealed coating edge
• Life-Coat™: increasingly harder coatings to ensure the durability of the ageing-resistant coating – even in the most adverse conditions
• low profile frame - 6 mm
