Artesky 1.0x Variable Universal Flattener

The Artesky 1.0x variable field flattener is perfectly compatible with refractors from 80mm up to 155mm, allowing you to have a corrected field up to the edges even with large sensors such as FullFrame.

The peculiarity of this universal flattener is the fact that it has integrated a variable micrometric adjustment system of the backfocus, this allows you to no longer have to go crazy with fittings and rings to reach the optimal distance for your telescope and your sensor!

Characteristics

Lighting and correction up to full frame format

Telescope connection via M63x1 thread - adapters for other connections, e.g. M68x1, are available

Camera connection via M48x0.75 thread with integrated connector for 2" filter - It is necessary to remove the 3 120° Allen screws to access the integrated filter holder

The working distance can be adjusted to the millimetre via an integrated fine adjustment!

The corrector can be used on all refractors with an aperture of 80mm and above, up to 155mm (tested)

2-element design with special ED glass

No reflections thanks to the complete multilayer and internal blackening

Perfect images right to the edges

An essential part of the corrector is a built-in fine adjustment.

By rotating the red knurled ring on the corrector, you can adjust the distance from the sensor within fractions of a millimeter.

Once the desired distance is reached, secure it with the locking screw on the side.

This way, the optimal distance can be determined by taking test shots with the camera attached, without additional adapters and fine-tuning rings.

The camera does not rotate during fine adjustment!

Working distance

The following settings are recommended from the innermost position of the fine adjustment to your camera's sensor:

Aperture 80mm / Focal ratio f/6 - 81.2mm

Aperture 80mm / Focal ratio f/7 - 80.2mm

Aperture 102mm / Focal ratio f/7 - 75.3mm

Aperture 115mm / Focal ratio f/7 - 73.0mm

Aperture 130mm / Focal ratio f/7 - 69.7mm

Aperture 140mm / Focal ratio f/6.5 - 68.0mm

Aperture 155mm / focal ratio f/8 - 57.0mm

Telescope connection

This Artesky flattener has a M63x1 male thread on the side of the telescope.

Many focusers already have this thread as standard, for example TS refractors, Tecnosky, Altair Astro and many others

Of course, adapters for other threads, such as M68x1, are available.

How to set the backfocus distance

Setting the correct distance is very simple, as shown below.

Let's say we have:

Refractor with 115mm aperture and F/7 focal length, i.e. focal length of 805mm

SLR camera with 55mm distance from M48 thread to sensor

The working distance is 73mm according to the table.

From this measurement, simply subtract the 55mm (sensor distance). 18mm remains

Simply rotate the variable adjustment (red ring) by 18mm outwards, easily adjustable via the distance marking.

You are already at the optimal distance and can start taking pictures!

ATTENTION: the table shows working distances tested only on some products, other refractors may be compatible but the working distance will have to be slightly varied.
