The ATN Viper is a Generation 1+ night vision monocular designed for handheld or head-mounted observation. Its standard configuration provides 1× magnification, so it does not enlarge the observed scene. The head mount allows the device to be used hands-free.
The monocular features glass optics with anti-reflection coatings, manual focusing and diopter adjustment. Its built-in infrared illuminator enables observation even without ambient light. The Viper can be used for nocturnal wildlife and terrain observation, camping and fishing.
Optional accessories allow magnification to be increased to 4× or 8×, while a camera adapter enables the monocular to be connected to a suitably matched still or video camera. This connection requires the camera to focus on the image in the eyepiece, for example using a macro mode, as well as a compatible mounting arrangement.

Which battery does the ATN Viper use? Can rechargeable batteries be used?
The ATN Viper uses one CR123A 3 V lithium battery. This is a primary battery and must not be recharged. Rechargeable RCR123/16340 cells may have a different voltage from a 3 V CR123A battery, so they should not be assumed to be compatible replacements. The manual for this model specifies a 3 V lithium battery.
