Revolutionary use of the StarSense smartphone app

Celestron has launched the revolutionary StarSense Explorer telescope. It is the first telescope that uses a smartphone to analyze the night sky in real time and what is visible through the telescope's eyepiece. StarSense Explorer is the perfect choice for beginners with its user-friendly and intuitive app. It's like having your own personal guide through the night sky. Observe hundreds of objects on the Moon, Jupiter's atmospheric belts, Saturn's rings, other planets, brighter nebulae and galaxies, star clusters and more. Under dark skies, you will see hundreds of fainter deep-sky objects.

Dock, Launch, Watch

You don't need to know the sky. No telescope experience is required either. With StarSense Explorer, locating objects in the sky has never been easier, faster, and more accurate. StarSense's sky recognition technology uses your smartphone to analyze the star patterns above your head and calculate its position in real time. Within minutes of setting up your telescope, you'll be confidently navigating the sky. Place your phone in the StarSense holder, then launch the StarSense Explorer application. After aligning the optical axis of your smartphone's camera with the optical axis of the telescope (a procedure similar to that performed with the finder's scope in a telescope), StarSense Explorer generates a list of currently visible celestial bodies. After selecting an object, arrows will appear on the screen, leading you to find the object in the sky. When the object is ready to be viewed in the telescope's eyepiece, the target on the smartphone's screen, in which the searched object is located, turns green. StarSense Explorer works with most modern smartphones.

Star system recognition system

StarSense Explorer uses LISA technology and a smartphone to accurately determine which direction the telescope is pointing in the night sky. The LISA algorithm is similar to the ones satellites use to properly orient themselves. It helps the app match the star patterns the smartphone sees to its internal database. Other smartphone astronomy apps are not as accurate as LISA technology because they rely solely on the phone's gyroscopes and accelerometers. No other app can accurately determine when a target is visible in the eyepiece.

High-quality assembly base

The stable Dobsonian mount provides a solid base for your StarSense Explorer telescope. The tabletop version of the classic Dobsonian mount is compact, lightweight, and easy to transport, making it perfect for travel. The low-profile design of the stand makes it easy to access the eyepiece, especially for children. You can also place the stand on a stable surface, such as a table or the hood of a car, to raise it to a comfortable viewing height.

Teflon bearings ensure smooth movements both vertically and horizontally. The integrated vertical "brake" system allows you to adjust the tension along the vertical axis, ensuring the smoothest movements even with a slightly unbalanced set. The handle on the telescope tube provides an ergonomic grip, so you can precisely point the telescope without introducing heat from your hands into the optical system by gripping the tube.

The optical tube is connected to the base using mounting clamps. This allows you to easily shift the center of gravity to balance the telescope or turn the eyepiece towards you to increase the comfort of your observations. The base has an eyepiece stand to keep additional eyepieces within reach.

Dazzling views thanks to high-quality optics

With its large 150mm parabolic mirror, this telescope has enough light-gathering power to reveal details of celestial objects. You can expect sharp, bright views of Jupiter's four Galilean moons, its cloud bands and Great Red Spot, Saturn's rings, the Orion Nebula Trapezium, and the beautiful Pleiades cluster. You'll be able to see subtle details when observing the Moon and planets, as well as faint galaxies and nebulae.

This telescope is equipped with a 1.25-inch Rack and Pinion focuser, giving you access to a wide range of accessories and eyepieces offered as standard. A 25mm eyepiece is also included, allowing you to start observing right out of the box!
