Thanks to hand-selected prisms and Premium HD (High Density) glass with very low dispersion, the image is crystal clear. Other optical advantages include anti-reflective XR coatings, which are used to cover all lens elements to increase light transmission. The phase of the BaK4 prism has been improved, which provides a sharp and contrasting image across the entire field of view. Dielectric multi-layer reflective coatings are used on the roof prisms, instead of aluminum coatings used in cheaper binocular models. The dielectric coating increases the light reflection coefficient, which translates into a sharper, more natural image. The Razor HD 8×42 binoculars have a magnesium housing, used to reduce weight without losing strength. The binoculars are filled with argon, which prevents the lenses from fogging in an environment with high humidity or sudden changes in temperature. Unlike the most commonly used nitrogen, argon is a much heavier gas, which prevents it from escaping from the inside of the binoculars.
