Astronomik CLS 31 mm Filter (Astronomik, SKU: 10213531 / 8h00fi) is designed for imaging nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters using telescopes or photographic lenses. It completely blocks emission lines from sodium (Na) and mercury (Hg) lamps as well as natural airglow, while transmitting most visible light and nebular emissions.
The filter significantly enhances contrast between deep-sky objects and the night sky background, making it highly effective under light-polluted conditions.
Its wide transmission range allows a large amount of light to pass through, resulting in only minimal star attenuation. The design maximizes suppression of unwanted light while preserving as much astronomical signal as possible.
• 1.25" and 2" mounted versions can be used for visual observations from light-polluted locations
• CLS CCD – required for cameras without a built-in IR blocking filter
• UHC – better suited for emission nebulae under strong light pollution
• UHC-E – suitable for emission nebulae and comet photography under moderate light pollution
• CMOS and CCD: good, requires additional IR-block filter
• DSLR (original): good, shifted white balance but increased contrast
• DSLR (astro-modified): very good, nearly perfect color balance
• DSLR (MC-modified): good, requires additional IR-block filter
• 92% transmission at 486 nm (H-beta)
• 92% transmission at 496 nm (OIII)
• 92% transmission at 501 nm (OIII)
• 97% transmission at 656 nm (H-alpha)
• transmission range: 450–540 nm and above 650 nm
• glass thickness: 1 mm (except OWB Type 3 and XT filters)
• finely polished optical glass free of stress and inclusions
• extremely durable coating
• fully resistant to humidity and aging
• Astronomik MFR coating
• parfocal with other Astronomik filters
• diffraction-limited design
• optimized transmission ranges
• supplied in a durable, high-quality protective box
All Astronomik filters are parfocal and diffraction-limited, ensuring that your optical system’s resolution and contrast remain unaffected. Each filter undergoes strict quality control before shipment.
