Astronomik H-alpha 6nm CCD 50 x 50mm², unmounted (SKU: 10212566 / 8h00ht) is a narrowband emission filter designed for imaging hydrogen nebulae. It records light emitted at the H-alpha 656 nm line and significantly increases contrast between the object and the sky background. The unmounted 50 x 50 mm² format makes it suitable for applications that require a filter without a cell.
With its 6 nm bandwidth, the filter effectively blocks unwanted light at other wavelengths, from UV to IR. It suppresses emission lines from sodium and mercury vapor lamps, natural airglow and a large portion of moonlight, making it suitable both for dark-sky imaging and for heavily light-polluted locations. When imaging faint objects in dense Milky Way star fields, the 6 nm version helps reduce the number of recorded stars and makes delicate nebular structures stand out more clearly.
The 6 nm version is especially recommended for imaging from extremely light-polluted sites and when using cameras with very low dark current. This filter must not be used for solar observation.
