Astronomik H-alpha 6nm CCD T-Mount (M42 × 0.75) Filter (SKU: 10212542 / 8h00ch) is a narrowband emission filter designed for imaging hydrogen nebulae. It records light emitted at the H-alpha 656 nm line and significantly increases contrast between the object and the sky background. The T-Mount design allows integration into astrophotography systems using the M42 × 0.75 thread standard.
With its 6 nm bandwidth, the filter effectively blocks unwanted light at other wavelengths from ultraviolet to infrared. It suppresses emission lines from sodium and mercury vapor lamps, natural airglow and a large portion of moonlight, enabling high-contrast imaging both under dark skies and in heavily light-polluted environments. When imaging faint objects in dense Milky Way star fields, the 6 nm version helps reduce the number of recorded stars and reveals faint nebular structures more clearly.
The 6 nm version is particularly recommended for imaging from extremely light-polluted locations and when using cameras with very low dark current. This filter must not be used for solar observation.
