Astronomik H-alpha 6nm CCD Clip-Filter EOS APS-C (SKU: 10201091 / 8h00io) is a narrowband emission filter designed for imaging hydrogen nebulae with Canon EOS APS-C cameras. It records light emitted at the H-alpha 656 nm line and significantly increases contrast between the object and the sky background. The clip-filter design allows installation directly inside the camera body.

With its 6 nm bandwidth, the filter effectively blocks unwanted light at other wavelengths from ultraviolet to infrared. It suppresses emission lines from sodium and mercury vapor lamps, natural airglow and a large portion of moonlight, enabling high-contrast imaging both under dark skies and in heavily light-polluted environments. When imaging faint objects in dense Milky Way star fields, the 6 nm version helps reduce the number of recorded stars and enhances faint nebular structures.

The 6 nm version is particularly useful for imaging from extremely light-polluted locations and when using cameras with very low dark current. This filter must not be used for solar observation.

Key features

• narrowband H-alpha filter for imaging hydrogen nebulae
• transmission band centered on the H-alpha 656 nm line
• 6 nm bandwidth
• clip-filter design for Canon EOS APS-C cameras
• significantly increases contrast between the object and the sky background
• blocks sodium and mercury emission lines, natural airglow and a large portion of moonlight
• suppresses unwanted light from UV to IR
• especially useful under strong light pollution and during full Moon imaging
• helps reveal faint nebular structures in dense Milky Way star fields
• Astronomik MFR coating ensures high contrast and minimal stray light

Included items

• Astronomik H-alpha 6nm CCD Clip-Filter EOS APS-C
• durable filter storage box

Technical specifications

• type: H-alpha narrowband filter
