The Astronomik OIII 6nm CCD Filter T-Mount (M42x0.75) (SKU: 10215642 / 8h00nb) is a narrowband emission filter designed for imaging nebulae that emit light in the oxygen [OIII] lines. It captures radiation at wavelengths of 496 nm and 501 nm, significantly increasing contrast between the object and the sky background. The T-Mount (M42x0.75) thread allows the filter to be mounted directly in astrophotography systems using the standard T2 interface.
The filter effectively blocks light pollution from sodium and mercury vapor lamps, natural airglow and a large portion of moonlight. This allows high-contrast nebula imaging both from heavily light-polluted locations and under dark skies.
The narrow 6 nm transmission band efficiently suppresses unwanted light at other wavelengths from ultraviolet to infrared. This filter is particularly useful for imaging faint objects in star-rich regions of the Milky Way and in areas with extreme light pollution.
The OIII filter enables imaging of planetary nebulae, star-forming regions and supernova remnants. Combined with H-alpha and SII filters it allows emission-line imaging using the HSO palette.
